Welcome to Thinking about fiber! I’ve recently started playing with the idea of starting a blog. Many blogs that I have followed over the years have slowed down their posting pace, while others have become private. Many other blogs are full of affiliate links or are a front for a sales website. I am looking for a space to read about the joy of making fiber projects, and after being a blog post consumer for many years, find that the time has come to try making a blog myself.
In this blog, I want to share my ongoing and past projects with you. I mainly knit, but have also made excursions into hand spinning, crochet, bobbin lace, weaving, and hand sewing, amongst others. I am bad at finishing projects, preferring to keep many on the go in parallel, which should mean I have many projects to show you. I may also mention blogs or fibers that I like, or share some thoughts about the current state of the textile industry. I will not put any affiliate links or be sponsored – if you like my writing you can buy me a coffee below 🙂
So who am I? While not comfortable sharing my identity online, I can tell you that I’ve been knitting for over twenty years. Although… this blog is called Thinking about fiber, and I must admit that I spend far more of my time thinking about fiber than actually working on projects. I am based in Europe, which may mean that I provide different references to wool and patterns than the main English language blogs that I see around. It may also mean the occasional grammatical or spelling error.
Well, this has become quite a long post. See you next time, where I will write a blog about some of my currently unfinished projects.
